4th of July

It's interesting how much more PC our culture is getting. I've always been bugged by just saying happy holidays or have a good holiday. It started off with Christmas and people didn't want to offend so they said happy holidays to cover Christmas and New Years. That was annoying enough. Then the last couple of years I hear it for Thanksgiving. Even more annoying. Now, for the 4th of July. Seriously, are any of you that offended by celebrating our nations freedom. If you are you need to move to another country. I can't believe how many people have said have a happy holiday over the last couple of days. I'm just sayin'

  1. Happy 4th of July. I think that some for some people it is not even about being PC anymore. It is such a cultural norm to replace the "holiday greeting" (I.E. Merry Christmas) with "Happy Holiday." Keep replying and Happy 4th of July to you. Really you should have said and you have a Merry Christmas too. That would really throw them off.

  2. I refer to vacations as "holidays" as in going on a holiday (taking at trip) and I refer to all holidays or occassions as their proper name. I think it makes the celebration insignificant and boring if I can't say what it really is. Lame! It isn't even a religious thing for me, it is more of a cultural annoyance which I think is the point youre making. I don't mind telling someone who celebrates Kwanzaa or Chanukah Happy Chanukah or whatever. I'm not saying oh yay I want to be Jewish! Or Black! Or Muslim! (if I say Happy Ramadan) People need to chill the stink out. It's Happy Christmas or Merry Christmas. Happy Independence day. Happy Thanksgiving. If you don't care about the real reason for the holidays at least be grateful that they get you time off work, people! Nice post Mama Duck. (remember that road rally? That was so fun!)
